PmxEditor - The reference editor for Pmx/Pmd models

PMX Editor is a 3D model engineering and editing software designed specifically for the MikuMikuDance (MMD) ecosystem. Unlike traditional modeling software, it is not used to sculpt a shape from scratch, but to configure, optimize, and modify the internal structure of existing 3D files in .pmd or .pmx format.

Easy installation with MmdStart

• Click on [Download] to download the file and leave it in the Download folder.
• Restart MmdStart and it will propose to install it properly and will add an icon and file association for pmx/pmd files.

PmxEditor was created by Kyokuhoku-P (極北P) from Japan. Its creator maintains the software and publishes a new version from time to time.

PmxEditor was originally in Japanese only; it was translated through reverse engineering not approved by its creator.

• In addition to editing models, it allows converting a pmx to ‘.x’ format, which allows creating accessories for MMD.

• To complement PmxEditor, many plugins have been created, a large portion is shipped by default, also in a translated version.

• Some aspects of Pmx files can be edited in Blender with the MMD plugin, but that’s a tiny fraction of what PmxEditor can do. However, for modifying the mesh and doing weight painting, Blender is more intuitive.
